A look at the Couchsurfing social network. This is one lecture from my online course, Travel Deep on the Cheap with Technology and Mindfulness. I am really excited to be a speaker and workshop presenter at SITSum Atlanta next week! No matter how many couches or beds upon which one has slept worldwide, a night at the Atlanta Midtown W in Atlanta is an object of magnificent gratitude. My workshop will blur the lines between tourist and local by linking them together and creating a cultural experience for all parties involved. It also covers how technology and social networks make that happen on both ends of the experience. Check me out the schedule. I'm sure I'll write more about this next week after I return from the experience! Just got back from the natural wonders of Alaska. The visit was only 10 days -- not nearly enough to explore all that this state, which is over twice the size of Texas, has to offer. We had enough time to hang out in Anchorage for a few days and two side trips. Anchorage had great food! Most notable was the salmon; I sampled some from a local, who had caught it himself! The restaurants were pretty good too; the pizza at Moose's Tooth rivaled that of any I'd eaten around the world. Truth Evolves Presents... Here's some excerpts from my interview on the Michael Dresser Show. I had a great follow-up interview with him afterward, where he gave me some great feedback about how to connect with a radio audience in an interview. He seemed like a nice guy!
I meet so many people that have the same dream that I did: fly one-way around the world and visit a bunch of cool places along the way. Well, I did it, and I'd like to show you how! Here's a short video with some tips about flying around the world. It's a lecture from my online course. Oh, and here's a coupon for half off my online course, which will make you a world travel expert by the end of it. Some examples of mindful travel illustrated by a trip to Tulum: Seize an opportunity to travel when you get it; set intentions; notice any "firsts" during your travels; meditate and do yoga along the way!
Psychedelic tourism seems to be in favor these days. People are traveling to far away countries to meet shamans to practice with drugs like peyote, ibogaine, and ayahuasca. Back in 2012 in Costa Rica, I experienced the psychedelic drug of Ayahuasca with a Columbian Shaman. The ceremony was unlike anything I'd ever experienced in my life, and it uncovered quite a few layers of myself and the world around me. It also taught me to bring my melodica with me around the world. This was my story, originally posted on my personal blog. Read More... The best way to fly one-way around the world There are several travel agents who offer fixed-price around-the-world plane tickets. These usually come with strings attached, and they have a profit to make from you. Do the legwork on your own to spend less and visit more places. Using these methods, I was able to take 38 flights to go all the way around the world while I spent less than $3800 on airfare. That's an average of under $100 per flight! As in general with travel, always look outside the box to find the best deals and the best experience! Simple tips to piece together your own around-the-world flight tickets
